Sukanta Dey is a leading industry icon in the growth of new FMCG (fast moving consumer goods &services) in India. He is a regular speaker in Global Industry forums. He has over forty years of experience in developing brands and in sales, marketing and profit centre management in Fortune 50 companies, viz, Unilever, PepsiCo and AT&T wireless.
In telecom he joined Idea Cellular Ltd. (a subsidiary of AT&T Wireless/Tatas/Birlas) as the chief operating officer and later as chief marketing and commercial officer powered the Idea brand to its current national stature, going head-on against entrenched giants like Vodafone, Airtel, and Reliance.
Later as Emerging Business President, he built the wireless data business for Tata Teleservices/Tata Docomo for the brands of Tata Photon. In 2014 he was appointed as Advisor to the Board of GlobaCom Limited, a Telecom Major in West Africa/UK. Prior to Telecom, he was Executive Vice President at PepsiCo. He joined PepsiCo’s India startup team in 1989 and during his ten year tenure with the company, the Pepsi brands became a formidable player against entrenched giants like Coke.
